You'd be wrong there, as Carnacki ain't all that obscure. There are quite a few pastiches out there. I can vouch for the quality of stories contained in this here volume:

Included, among others, is the case of the infamous Grey Dog, mentioned in this very story!
It's pretty obscure to the basic person and that's my only idea in saying so. I've known of Carnacki for some time but most people never heard of him. :-)
